Although, I specialize in psychodynamic and group analytic approaches to psychotherapy, my approach is essentially eclectic, pragmatic and flexible, grounded in a broad base of theory and practice and the belief that individuals are social through and through. In my work as a psychotherapist I try to engage the person or people who engage my services in an open, serious and reflective conversation about themselves and ourselves.

§       As well as being a UK trained psychotherapist with a practice in central Barcelona, I am a lecturer in group analysis, tutor and large group conductor on the Art Therapy Masters at Metafora, University of Barcelona.

§       I am also a supervisor, large group facilitator, lecturer and tutor on the Masters programme in Dance Movement Therapy at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

§       In May 2004, I was appointed Affiliate Counsellor in Barcelona for PPC Worldwide – a global provider of Employee Assistance Programmes.

§       I am a professional member of the Goldsmiths’ Association of Group Psychotherapists and a full member of the Barcelona Network of English Speaking Therapists.

§       I am a member of the International Association for Group Psychotherapists and Group Processes

I trained as a psychotherapist between 1988 and 1992 in St. Bartholomew's Hospital, Department of Psychological Medicine and Goldsmiths' College University of London (accredited by the Universities Psychotherapy and Counselling Association through which I am a Registered UKCP Psychotherapist). Since then I’ve worked freelance as a therapist, lecturer and teacher in the following organizations:

·       WPF Counselling and Psychotherapy (Kensington, London);

·       Open Door, Young People’s Psychotherapy Service;

·       Sevenoaks Hospital, Clinical Psychology Service;

·       Bexley & Greenwich, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service;

·       Support Line, Employee Assistance Programme.

·       Southwark Education Department, Pupil Support Services

I originally studied politics, philosophy and economics at Sheffield University, before going on to work for MENCAP and, soon after in 1986, to train at London University, Institute of Education, as a teacher of social studies.

Over the years I have accumulated substantial experience of working in the adult outpatient public and private fields. Earlier on in my career I did much work in Inner London with behaviourally challenging teenagers and their families. Before moving to Barcelona in 1999, I was a Professional Member, secretary and Professional Development Committee member of the British Association of Group Psychotherapists and Chair of the Goldsmiths' Association of Group Psychotherapists.  In the UK in 1995 I participated in the launch of Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility and was a founder member of the same organization’s Education Group.
